Ernest G. Lanctot, 91, of Londonderry, NH, formerly of Everett, MA, was called to the Lord on Saturday October 31, 2020 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH after a period of declining health. He was born June 14, 1929 in Waltham, MA and was the son of the late Ernest N. and Anna O. (Rinaldi) Lanctot. He was raised and educated in Everett, MA and had been a resident of Londonderry for the past 22 years.
Ernie served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was employed at General Electric Corp. in Lynn and Everett, MA for 33 years as a Quality Control Inspector, retiring in 1992. Ernie and Tina enjoyed many years of camping with family and friends. Ernie’s love of cooking was enjoyed by all throughout his life. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and was an able handyman, happy to help others in need. He was a longtime communicant of St. Jude Parish of Londonderry, a proud member of their choir and the St. Jude Senior Club. Ernie had many friends at the Londonderry Senior Center. Ernie will be remembered for his powerful voice. A man devoted to his catholic faith, he was involved from a young age singing in the church. For over 30 years he was a very active member of the St. Therese’s Parish in Everett. Ernie will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Concetta “Tina” (Galante) Lanctot, two daughters, Denise McEvoy and her husband Charles of Quincy, Ma, and Maureen Evangelou of Londonderry, three grandchildren, Olivia McEvoy, Karyn McEvoy and Derek Evangelou. He is predeceased by his sister, Marie McElveen.
The Lanctot family would like to express a thank you to the caretakers at the All American Assisted Living in Londonderry that took such loving care of Ernie the last few years, as well as, the Fitch Unit at the Elliot Hospital as he began his final journey .
Calling hours were held Friday November 6, 2020 from 9 to 10:30am at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial followed at 11:00am at St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Entombment in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester, NH followed. Due to State of NH guidelines, all guests are required to wear masks, minimize contact and maintain social distancing. The mass was live streamed on St. Jude Parish's facebook page.
