Nora Minasian was born in Hudson, MA in 1916 to Maritza and Dadoor Donabedian, the first of three children. Within a few years, the family, which now included brothers Manuel and Leo, settled in Watertown where Nora attended the public school system. At the tender age of 17, she married the “boy next door” Minas Minasian, an immigrant from Kharpert, Armenia. Nora and Minas remained happily married for 37 years until his death in 1971. Up until her death she continued to reside in the home they shared in Arlington.
Nora was the mother of Paul (deceased) and his wife Anjel of Woburn and daughters Mary Minasian of Arlington and Janet Saker and her husband Edward also of Arlington. She was the proud grandmother of Charles Minasian and his wife Hripsime of Lexington, and great granddaughters Jacqueline and Angelina Minasian.
Nora was an active parishioner of Holy Cross Armenian Catholic Church, a member of the Armenian Citizens Association of Arlington, the Armenian Relief Society and the Mt. Auburn Hospital Auxiliary, where she volunteered for over 25 years.
Her love of gardening turned into a profession when, at the age of 74, she was hired by Mahoney’s Rocky Ledge Farm in Winchester to help display and maintain the plants and flowers in their retail greenhouse. With her job at Mahoney’s, her volunteer work and her weekly Dunkin’ Donuts coffee get-togethers with friends, Nora kept herself quite busy.
Nora remained beautiful, vibrant and forever young until her final days.
Funeral and Cemetery services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Nora's memory to Holy Cross Armenian Catholic Church, 200 Lexington Street, Belmont, MA 02478.
