Edward C. Coleman, 81, of Windham, NH passed on Friday, October 30th 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Quincy, MA to Edward Coleman and Mary (Flaherty) Coleman on August 3, 1939. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Audrey (Ferris) Coleman. He was the devoted father of James Coleman and his wife Alice of Bridgewater, MA, Scott Coleman and his wife Christina of Warwick, RI, Christine Pelletier and her husband Jon of Windham, NH and Debra Coleman of Waltham, MA. Loving grandfather of James, Ava, Ellie and Brayden. Brother to Constance Blair of Cape Cod and the late Jean Palmer. Ed is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Ed was raised in Milton, MA and attended Boston College High School. He went on to earn a dual Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting at Northeastern University. He proudly spent his career with the Gillette Company in Boston, MA which has since become known as the Procter & Gamble Company. It was here where he instilled his impeccable work ethic to his children with not calling in sick a day throughout his 38 year tenure with the company.
Ed made his home with his wife and four children in Medfield, MA. After retirement, he was able to spend his free time perfecting his golf swing. Ed participated in many local golf clubs as well as bowling leagues. He loved to cook and host family holidays at his home. He also enjoyed his time at the casinos. Ed was known as ‘Papa’ to his four grandchildren. He was a devoted sports fan who never missed the opportunity to attend years of baseball games, dance recitals, field hockey games, gymnastics meets, band concerts and basketball games. He was there for every first day of school, promotion and graduation.
A visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home at 456 High St. Dedham, MA on Wednesday, November 4th from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Dedham, MA at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham, MA. Relatives and friends are invited. Masks will be worn at the funeral home and church and all are asked to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
