Walter Allen Thomas Wallace, “Tommy”, age 75, of Anderson, went to be with the Lord October 28, 2020 at Community Hospital-Anderson, Indiana.
Walter was born on August 13, 1945 in Anderson, Indiana, to the late Rev. George and Rev. Margaret Wallace. He attended Anderson High school and after graduation attended Marion College, which is now Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was loyal to his country. On September 3rd, 1969 he married his sweetheart, Barbara (Lehue) Wallace, whom he met at Frankfort Wesleyan Family Camp. He later became an ordained minister within the Wesleyan Church.
Walter pastored throughout Indiana and Illinois within the Wesleyan Church. He loved singing, playing, the piano, organ, guitar, and harmonica for God’s glory. He enjoyed Church camp meetings, attending revivals, ministering in song and preaching, and visiting the sick and invalid to sing, pray, and encourage. Walter and Barbara served Christ together fulfilling God’s calling on their lives through Christian ministry.
Walter also enjoyed playing and watching basketball. He taught his children the love of the game as well. He also loved playing horseshoes. He always looked forward to the annual Zachary Family Reunion each year.
Walter was a loving and caring husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved his family and people in general and it showed in his actions and how he lived life. He put others first.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Wallace (Lehue) of 51 years; his children, Thomas Wallace of Logansport, Indiana, Margaret Gidisa (Wallace) and son in law George Gidisa I of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, Jonathan Wallace and daughter in law, April Wallace of Alexandria, Indiana, and Matthew Wallace of Anderson, Indiana; grandchildren Stephanie Lee and her husband Bryan Lee of Logansport, Indiana, Thomas Wallace Jr. of Logansport, Indiana, George Gidisa II, Sarah Gidisa, and Lelani Gidisa of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, Destiny Bess of Frankton, Indiana; great grandchildren Naveah Lee, Bryan Lee Jr., and Chanell Lee of Logansport, Indiana, his brother, John(Cathy) Wallace of Anderson, Indiana, and sister, Rita Wallace of Dover, Deleware; Nieces Jennifer Wallace, Hilaire Lyle, Michelle (Lehue) Landers; Nephews: Jeremy Wallace, John Schwing, Shawn Lehue, and many more nieces and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents George and Margaret Wallace, Father- in- Law, Lincoln Lehue and Mother- in- Law, Edith Lehue, nephews Johnnie Dale Wallace and Bob Schwing.
He is remembered most for his love for Jesus, singing and playing the piano, and his desire for others to know and serve Christ. His motto for life was Matthew 6:33. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
The funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 2PM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, Rev. Tim Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service on Wednesday, beginning at 12 noon. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
