Whitman – Carol K. Saccone 84, a life time resident of Whitman, died on Monday, October 26th after a long illness. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Whitman Carol was the daughter of the late Charles and Pauline Woods. She graduated from Whitman High School in 1953 and soon after began working for Grossman’s Lumber Company where she met her late husband Joseph C. Saccone. Carol and Joe settled in Whitman where they started a family business and raised their four children. Carol also worked at Goddard Memorial Hospital for a period of time and later transitioned to working full-time for the J. Saccone & Sons.
Carol is survived by her loving children; Joseph J. and his wife Della, Carl and his wife Doreen, Sandra, and Michael and his wife Donna all from Whitman. She also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sisters Doris and Jacquelyn.
Carol was known to the community where she lived for more than 80 years as a woman who exemplified dedication to her family and devotion to her faith. She was a wonderful and loving mother who adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a devoted wife for more than 60 years. A woman of faith, she was a longtime parishioner of the Holy Ghost Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, October 30th from 5-7 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. All other services are private.
