Obituary

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Sandra J. “Sandy” (Delano) Antico, 82, of West Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, October 24, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at her daughter’s home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on October 11, 1938, a beloved daughter of the late Robert J. and Mildred M. (Deyo) Delano. She was raised in Springfield and moved to West Springfield around 1974. She was an administrative assistant at St. Paul Insurance Company in Holyoke. She previously was employed as a seamstress and later worked in food service at Country Estates in Agawam. During her younger years, she was proud to be a Cub Scout Mom. In her leisure time, Sandy enjoyed cooking and was known for her “famous” sauce and meatballs and was a volunteer at the West Springfield Senior Center. She was a communicant of Saint Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield. She leaves her beloved husband and soul mate, Salvatore Antico. They were married at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield on November 16, 1957 and were blessed with over 62 years of happiness together. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Dino G. Antico who was Called Home on January 9, 2012; and leaves her two loving children, Rosemarie A. Antico and David A. Antico and his wife, Danielle, all of West Springfield; her seven cherished grandchildren, Michael Antico, Zachary Antico, Danielle Antico, Dylan Scanlon and his fiancée, Katelyn Bortolussi, Tyler Scanlon, Grace Antico, and Nicholas Antico; her former dear daughter-in-law, Susan Antico of Hampton, NH; her dear brother, Patrick Delano and his wife, Brenda, of Kansas; her dear sister, Linda Delano of West Springfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Antico and Delano families. Besides her parents and son, she was predeceased by her dear brothers, Gary, Thomas, Robert, and Donald Delano. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104 (please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home and Church capacity is limited due to state regulations). Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. before the Mass.
