Peter J. Murray, age 78, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2020 surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was born July 5, 1942 in Holyoke, the son of the late Walter and Cecile (Dupont) Murray. Peter spent many years working alongside his father and brother at Uniroyal as an electrician. He was a loadmaster for the United States Air Force, and later worked for the United States Post Office until his retirement. Peter was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He was an avid New England sports fan, but most enjoyed playing baseball with his 3 great grandsons. Peter enjoyed taking countless family vacations, especially to the beach. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Donna M. (LaValley) Murray, his 3 daughters, Kimberly Cloutier and her husband Don, Kelly Murray and Kerry Young, all of Chicopee; 1 sister Mary LaLiberte of Easthampton; 3 granddaughters, Laura Cloutier, Marissa Cloutier and Courtney Young, along with 3 great grandsons, Oliver Nardacci, Tony Roncalli and Leo Robare. He is predeceased by his brother, Walter Murray Jr. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield Street, Chicopee. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, 9:00 AM from the Grise Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne Church in Chicopee at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
