Challenged at the end of her life by a cancer that even the indomitable Gerry Miller could not conquer, Gerry has now moved on to her next new adventure. Gerry lived her entire life knowing every moment is precious and not to be wasted. All who knew her valued the richness of her friendship, whether it be in the sharing of an adventure or story, or in the knowledge that her careful attention and rock-solid counsel were always available. All of us hold warmly in our hearts’ memories the time and adventures we were lucky enough to share with her.
Born in Minneapolis, MN, Gerry is survived by her partner and companion Barbara Fosbrink, and family members including sister Kathy Cota; her nieces Sue Miller, Renee Miller-Gale, Carrie Andresen; nephews Michael Miller, Corey Crosby; cousins John Hedlund, Colleen Bell; great niece Cori Miller; great nephews Max Miller. Christopher Isar. Gerry is also survived by an extensive self-chosen family of dear caring friends both human and four-legged.
Gerry was an avid horsewoman all her life, and she never met a horse, kitty or puppy that she did not love. We learned just after Gerry’s passing that her favorite horse companion Chrome (pictured above with her) preceded Gerry in death by just a few days. May they now be on the trail together.
Gerry spent many hours in her later years as a volunteer with California Coastal Horse Rescue, a local group dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and safe refuge for endangered horses. Even in her 80’s, being around these horses and cleaning their stalls filled Gerry’s soul with joy. She requested that any donations in her memory be made to this group. At a date in the future we will be holding a small gathering on site to honor Gerry and install a plaque in her memory. Here is the address for donations:
