Laconia-Joan Nora Olewine, 73, of Darby Drive died Sunday evening, March 5, 2006 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Englewood, NJ on September 9, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Theodore L. and Eleanor H. (Johnson) Vetter. Joan had been a resident of Laconia for the past 37 years coming from Bergenfield, NJ where she was raised and schooled.
Prior to her retirement Joan was employed as a bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Dave’s Sunoco, formerly located at Union Avenue and Mechanic Street in Laconia. She had also been employed at Scott & Williams and Lewis & Saunders both in Laconia as a bookkeeper as well. In her later years she managed the Country Kitchen Thrift Store in Belmont.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, David L. Olewine of Laconia, one son, Dwight D. Olewine and his wife Mary of Ossipee, two brothers, Theodore Vetter of Stuart, Fl and John “Jack” Vetter of Ridgewood, NJ, two sisters, Mildred Finn of Keene, NH and Carol Contaldi of Sussex, NJ. Two grandchildren, Timmy and Rebecca Olewine both of Ossipee, also survive her.
Graveside Services were held at the family lot Thursday March 9, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Bayside Cemetery, 1350 Union Avenue, Laconia. Rev. Michael C. Graham, pastor of Gilford Community Church officiated. Family and friends were invited to attend. There were no visiting hours.
