Obituary

Richard F. Albertowicz Jr. "Rick", age 64, entered the gates of heaven unexpectedly on Oct. 13, 2020. Born on Dec. 20, 1955 in Springfield, he was the son of the late Marion (Clancy) Garelli and step-son to Robert (Bob) R. Garelli. During his youth Rick lived in Indian Orchard where he pitched baseball. He later went on to serve in the US Army. Rick had multiple positions throughout the years working at both the Springfield Bulk Mail Center, and as the manager of Forest Park Liquors. He later founded Archer Airport Limousine. Rick was an avid dart player, part of a pool league and won many championships through the years. He enjoyed playing cards and was an enthusiastic Patriots fan. He had an appreciation for many different genres of music, knew all the unknown bands, and collected many records and tee shirts along the way. He enjoyed wine tastings and had an eye for unique fine art. He also enjoyed visiting the Cape, but nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He will be remembered as a loving and doting husband, father, and Papa. He and is survived by his wife Lori E. (LaBombard) Albertowicz of Chicopee; his step-father Robert R. Garelli of Springfield; and his children Denielle “Dee” Hawkins and her husband Scott of Ludlow, Ashley Picone of Monson, Nicole Cader and her husband Zachary of Beavertown, OR, Kellie Albertowicz of Northampton, Jennifer LaBombard of Chicopee, Beth Messinger and her husband Todd of Granby, Sarah Howe of Turner Falls and Charles B. Clemons and his fiancé Sara Takacs of Springfield He also leaves behind his brother David Albertowicz and his wife Paula of Chicopee; and his sister, Diane Lawler and her husband Arthur of Westfield; a niece Linda Lambert and her husband Tommy of North Berwick, ME; a nephew Charles Mullins and his wife Jennifer of Jacksonville, FL; as well as 10 grandchildren whom will miss their Papa dearly, Lillian, Joshua, Ayden, Nathan, Maddox, Amelia, Brianna, Jayden aka “Eddie”, Nate and Oliver. Along with many other relatives. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday Oct. 21, 2020 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Friends of the Homeless in Springfield; or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, both dear to his heart.
