FALL RIVER – Antone I. Mello Jr., age 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 13, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Silvia) Mello. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Antone and Rose (Medeiros) Mello. Prior to retirement, Antone worked as a forklift driver for State Road Cement Block Company for many years. He was an avid Red Sox fan and loved to play cards. But his biggest joys in life were holding his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved his birds and they brought him so much joy. He loved watching Junkyard Empire on TV while eating his seafood and sipping his beer. He was, and I can't stress this enough, the best Dad, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Uncle anyone could ask for.
He was loving and was our rock. Our family was built on this rock. He and Mom taught us that the most important things are love and family. He was surrounded by that his whole marriage and til his last breath. We will miss him beyond words but know that he is with his Helen again, in his green pick-up truck, coffee in hand, sitting at the beach and watching the waves.
Antone is survived by his children: Antone Mello, William A. Mello, Michael Mello, Susan M. Mello (partner Jacob King), Mary Lisa Tenczar and Karen Kettle (husband Scott); sister: Leanora Pereira; grandchildren: Shannon Harrington, Amber Lippa (husband Alex), Lindsay Mello, George, Alan and Timothy Botelho, David and James Tenczar, Paige and Scott Kettle; great-grandchildren: Cameren Cabeceiras, Colin Harrington, Alan, Amelia and Evelyn Botelho, Emma Leroux, Nikolai, Vincent and Jaiden Chandler and Mason James Tenczar. He was predeceased by his granddaughters Misty Mello and Michelle Morrissette.
His calling hours will take place in the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday, October 17th from 1-5 P.M. Cremation to follow. We ask for your patience as you may need to wait to come in to pay your respects. To send the family Expressions of Sympathy, please go to www.rogersfuneral.com
