Natalia A. Pires, 65, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly on October 8, 2020. She was the wife of Jose Eduardo Araujo.
Born in Fogo, Cabo Verde, daughter of Ovidio Pires and the late Ana (Alves) Pires, she had been a resident of New Bedford for over 3 decades. Natalia was a homemaker after working many years in the greater New Bedford area. She was a cherished member of the International Church of the Nazarene in New Bedford and was passionate in her faith.
Natalia was known for her kind heart and unconditional love. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. Natalia loved to cook and enjoyed spending time gathering with family and friends. She tended and cared for all who entered her home and saw to it that they left fed and as friends. Natalia taught all who knew her to be kinder, to love more and hold no grudges. She was a giver, always offering help and giving of her time. She will forever be revered and remembered for her loving, hospitable, helpful and caring nature. Her passing leaves the lives of those she touched forever altered.
She is survived by her husband, Jose; her father, Ovidio; her four children, Ana Dias of New Bedford, Marco Dias of Portugal, and Stephanie Semedo and Antonio Rodrigues, both of New Bedford; seven grandchildren, Shyla Diaz, Allyana Dias, Amari Dias, Jaselle Reyes, Yasmine Dias, Tayah Williams, and Noah Barbosa; four sisters, Eunice Miranda and Maria Pires, both of New Bedford, and Arminda Whitehead and Raquel Lima, both of Florida; five brothers, Mario Pires, David Pires, Benjamin Pires, Jose Pires, and Fernando Pires. She is also survived by her sons in-laws, Madger Delgado and Nelson Barbosa and her daughter in-law, Jamie Konior; Her brothers-in-law José Miranda and Aldaberto Lima and sisters-in-law Jana and Sandra Pires, whom she revered and loved. She was dearly loved by her several aunts, uncles, and many cousins both in New Bedford and Cabo Verde. Additionally, she is beloved by her many nephews, nieces, great-nieces and nephews whom she was very connected to from New Bedford, Boston ,Florida, Cabo Verde and the Caribbean . She equally will be missed by those she had chosen as family, regarding them as sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters.
She was predeceased by her son, Pedro Dias; her sister, Anabela Pires; and her beloved brother, Luis Pires.
Her Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, October 16, 2020 from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Her Funeral Service will be private. Please be advised that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there are strict guidelines that must be adhered to for the safety of everyone. You MUST wear a mask to be allowed entry to the services. Please practice social distancing and avoid any close contact. Guests will be permitted to pay their respects and depart to allow the next guests to enter.
