BERKLEY – James Tavares, age 86 of Berkley, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020 in the comforts of his home. Born in Fall River, James was the son of the late Manuel & Anna (Correa) Garcia and the beloved husband of Ernestine (Case) Tavares.
Prior to retiring, James was a Self-Employed Auto Mechanic, owner of Jimmy’s Texaco Station, William St. Fall River, MA for many years. James also served as a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. James was an avid sports fan, enjoyed reading the newspaper and being up to date on political affairs. James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends laughing and eating a good meal; he will be missed by many.
In addition to his wife of Berkley, survivors include his Children: Kelly Lee Tavares of Fall River and James Tavares of Fall River; Siblings: Alice Cabral of Swansea, Dennis Garcia of Somerset, the late Pauline Dupere of Tiverton, and Delores Medeiros of Dighton; a loving Grandson: Christian Alan Tavares; and several Nieces & Nephews; Devoted friends George & Natalie Moreira of Westport.
Funeral Services for James will take place in the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Thursday, Oct. 15th at 10:00 A.M. Private Burial with Military Honors in MA National Cemetery, Bourne. Calling hours on Wednesday, Oct. 14th from 5 - 7 P.M.
