Gertrude D. (Spooner) Neary, 93, of Dartmouth, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at home. She was the wife of the late Stephen H. Neary, Jr.
Mrs. Neary was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Ralph G. and Laurena H. (Darling) Spooner. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a an executive secretary for the former Lambeth Corp., New Bedford, Merchants Bank and Continental Screw. She was Deaconess and treasurer at the First Congregational Church at Lunds Corner where she was a member for many years. She also belonged to the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendents.
Survivors include her daughter: Helen E. Levesque and her fiancé Michael Souza of Fairhaven; niece: Millicent McKowski; nephew: Dr.Samuel Wagstaff; along with many great nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Helen E. Wagstaff.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the First Congregational Church, New Bedford at 10:00 a.m.
Calling hours will be Tuesday at the Potter Funeral Home from 4-7 P.M.
Interment will be in Beech grove Cemetery, Westport.
