Manuel P. Bairos

METHUEN: Manuel Paiva Bairos, age 73, a resident of Methuen, passed away at home in the care of his family and Merrimack Valley Hospice on Thursday, October 8, 2020.
He was the beloved husband of Maria C. (Sousa) Bairos, with whom he would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on October 9, 2020.
Born in Santa Maria, Portugal on September 2, 1947, he was the son of the late Bernardinho Bairos and the late Bernardinha (Paiva) Bairos.
In 1975, Manuel Immigrated from Portugal to Somerville, MA, where he lived for 21 years until moving to Tewksbury in 1996.
He resided on the corner of North Billerica Road and Geddes Drive in Tewksbury for 23 years until moving to Methuen in August of 2019.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Crane Operator by Wheelabrator Technologies in Saugus for 37 years.
Manuel loved saltwater fishing for bluefish and striped bass off the shores of Cape Cod, Gloucester, and Seabrook, NH. In addition, he enjoyed caring for his vegetable and fruit gardens at his home.
Besides his wife Maria, he leaves three children, Arnold J. Bairos and his wife Diane of Dracut, Paul S. Bairos and his wife Tiffany of Georgetown, and Christine M. Bairos of Methuen; six grandchildren, Shane M., Andrew D., Joshua P., Deven J., Austin J. and Logan S. Bairos; one sister, Helena Sousa of Santa Maria, Portugal; also many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Manuel was the brother of the late Maria Morais, Antonio, José, and Serafin Bairos.
Calling hours in adherence with State Covid-19 guidelines will be Monday, Oct. 12, from 4-6 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, (church limited to 80 attendees) 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 N. Lowell St., Methuen. Masks/Face Coverings and social distancing required at all venues.
