William Henry “Dub” Bostick, 85, of Ocilla, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family.
Private graveside services will be held at Brushy Creek Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia.
Mr. Bostick was born May 5, 1935, in Nashville, Georgia, to the late Henry C. & V. Winerfred Kirkland Bostick. He was a graduate of Berrien County High School. Mr. Bostick served his country honorably in the United States Navy. After completing his tour of duty, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he also served honorably. He worked for Delco Remy for over 20 years, specifically loading Honda batteries, where he was known as “The Honda Guy”. He was a lifelong farmer as well. Mr. Bostick was a man of honor, integrity, and loyalty to his family and his faith. He had a true servant’s heart and will be remembered for his patience as well as the firm grip of his gentleman’s handshake. On the rare occasion that he was not working, he enjoyed rocking on the front porch and maybe catching a Braves or Falcons game on TV. He was a loving husband and father who was very supportive of his family in many ways, including pulling chains on the sidelines when Michael played for the Irwin County Indians, attending softball games to watch Suzanne play, and watching Kathleen dance at many recitals. He was a member of the American Legion Post 100 and took pride in putting out flags on patriotic holidays with his longtime friend Pierce Nelson. He was a member of Ocilla Baptist Church for over 50 years where he was active in the Andrew Sunday school class and sang in the choir.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Faye Paulk Bostick of Irwin County; children: Kathleen Bostick Miller & Cal Miller of Chula, Michael Bostick & Mandy Bostick of Irwin County, and Suzanne Bostick Williams & Steve Williams of Irwin County; grandchildren: Zachary & Vanessa Miller, Rebecca Miller, Hailey Young, Becca Anne Bostick, Bain Bostick, Bella Bostick, and Elizabeth Faye Leggett; great-grandchildren: Adaline Kate Miller and Leia Grace Miller and two sisters: Shirley Ivey of Yulee, Florida and Judee Bostick of Hawthorne, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ned Bostick and a sister, Cari Ann Zinram.
