Obituary

1/14/1932 - 10/04/2020
It is with great sadness that we inform family and friends of the passing of Clara Coronado on the morning of October 4, 2020. Clara had been in the care of Home Sweet Home Care facility in Ventura since July, 2020.

Clara was born in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico, and came to California with her parents when she was 3 years old.

Clara was a beautician for about 10 years and worked at Eve's Beauty Salon on Thompson Blvd. She kept her cosmetology license valid up into her 80's. As her three boys, Mark Paul, and David grew up she decided to keep an eye on them so she started working for the Ventura Unified School District in the cafeteria at Cabrillo Junior High School in the late 60's. She stayed with the school district for 30 plus years, eventually becoming the Cafeteria Manager at Cabrillo.

Mom loved her boys, her grandchildren (Christine, Nicole, and Nicholas), and great grandchild (Kalindi) more than anything in the world - family was always number one to her. She enjoyed going to thrift stores, reading "raunchy" books, collecting dolls, camping on the Rincon and cooking meals for family gatherings. What most people say about Clara was: "You always knew where you stood with her because she would tell it like it was."

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, James and Eulalia English; her brothers: Fred West and Frank English; her sister, Teresa Sauceda; her son, David "Bongie" Coronado; and her God-daughter, Katherine West-Merrick.

Only immediate family will be attending a private funeral for Mom. A Celebration of Life for Clara will take place in the (hopefully) near future when we can all laugh, cry, and remember Clara for the wonderful and caring person that she was.
