Porter - Scott Dale York of Porter, Maine passed away unexpectedly on October 2nd 2020 at the age of 52. Scott was born August 7th, 1968 in Portland, Maine, the middle of six children, to Frederick York Sr. and Barbara York of Cornish. Scott attended Cornish Elementary school before moving onto Sacopee Valley High School where he graduated.
He worked a number of years at the Kezar Falls Woolen Mill prior to its closure. He then moved on to Bindley Western in Portland and later Lakeview Neurorehabilitation in Effingham, New Hampshire before finally settling into a job at Blue Rock Stone Center in Westbrook where he spent many years manufacturing stone countertops among other things.
Scott spent much of his time growing up in Cornish and Brownfield. His love for both towns was life-long and he could be found regularly hunting, fishing, and trapping in both, depending on the season, with his sons. Scott was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, never missing any game he did not absolutely have to, and the Boston Red Sox. He spent much of the late Spring and Summer listening to them on the radio while doing yard work. Scott also enjoyed keeping production birds like ducks, chickens, and turkeys as well as maintaining his vegetable garden. He had a passion for cooking as well which led to a multitude of delicious meals that were always made with a love and care that simply could not be rushed. This led to many late-night meals, but they were always worth the wait. Scott will be warmly remembered as a kind, friendly man who is loved and dearly missed by his family and friends.
Scott is predeceased by his father and mother, Frederick Sr. and Barbara York, as well as a brother, Frederick Jr. and sister, Melissa York. His is survived by his two sons, William and Nicholas York; his brother Peter York and sister-in-law Margaret York; his brother Jeffrey York and sister-in-law Kate York; his sister Mary Pingree and brother-in-law Scott Pingree; an aunt Norma Coolbroth; nieces Diana Wilmes, Samantha York, and Ashley Pingree; and nephews Andrew Wallace, Peter York, Michael Pingree, and Nolan York.
