Hollis- Reverend Ronald Dean Walton fell asleep in Christ on October 3, 2020 at the Gosnell House in Scarborough, ME after a brief battle with pneumonia and other infections.
Ronald was born in Presque Isle, Maine on December 14, 1931 the son of Kenneth and Olive Walton.
After graduating from Mapleton High School, he went on to attend Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina.
He was ordained into the Advent Christian Denomination in 1954.
He married the love of his life, Althea Hews, from Ashland, Maine on June 28, 1955.
His seventeen-year pastoral ministry started in Newport Center, Vermont followed by Dover, New Hampshire and Rochester, New Hampshire.
After his pastoral ministry Ronald served the Advent Christian Denomination as Eastern Region Superintendent supporting pastors and their churches throughout New England and Eastern Providences of Canada.
It was during this time that he was also a fund raiser for Berkshire Christian College in Lenox, Massachusetts.
Ronald went on from there to be Director of Development for Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. He remained at this Christian Liberal Arts college for twelve years, until his retirement.
Ron loved his Kubota tractor and his lawn mower; just being on his farm getting his hands dirty.
His family was always his top priority.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 65 years, Althea (Hews) Walton, his son David and wife Barbara Walton of Rochester New Hampshire, his son Mark and wife Robin Walton of Dayton, Maine, a sister Jeannie (Walton) and her husband Lewin Cocks of Vero Beach, Florida, eight grandchildren; Ashley, Cody, Shelby, Gregory, Christine, Stephanie, Ashlyn, Adam and twelve great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held privately due to COVID concerns
Burial will follow at a later date.
