Patricia A. “Pat” Norkus, 73, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, October 4, 2020, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 3 PM, Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at St. Williams Catholic Church in Fitzgerald, with Father Paul O’Connell officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. A Rosary will be held 7 PM, Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald and the family will greet friends afterwards. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a limit of 50 people allowed at the Mass on Wednesday according to Diocese rules.
Ms. Norkus was born March 28, 1947, in Bettendorf, Iowa, to the late Peter J. & Phyllis Proksch Norkus. Her family moved to the community in the early 1960s and she was a 1965 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. She was Owner and Administrator of Fitzgerald Nursing Home for many years. She was a licensed cosmetologist as well. Ms. Norkus was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church in Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her children: Chris & Renea Kite and Tina & Tommy Gibbs, all of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Devin Kite, Zarian Kite, Aniya Kite, and Danny Gibbs; step-grandchildren: Justin Braxton, Brittany & Donivan Thompson, Kimberly Braxton, and J.T. Burnette; great-grandchildren: Grace Howard, Charles Monk, Waylon Thompson, Cody Thompson, Rose Thompson, and Marley Thompson; a brother, Larry & Carol Norkus of Gambrills, Maryland; nephews and a niece: David Norkus, Cindy & Harry Clark, Steve & Chris Norkus, and Michael Norkus; as well as her beloved fur-babies, Casper & Piper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Norkus.
