Nathaniel Souto, Jr., 56, of New Bedford passed away suddenly at home on Monday September 28, 2020. He was the husband of the late Renee L. (Duarte) Souto.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Nathaniel and Mary (Pina) Souto, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Nathaniel was formerly employed as a shipping and receiving manager at Ocean Spray Cranberry for 28 years. He had also worked as a longshoreman and was a member of the International Longshoremen’s Association.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, taking rides to Cape Cod, and spending time with his wife and family. He was a diehard New York Giants fan.
He is survived by three children, Courtney Rae Duarte-Souto, Nathaniel Duarte-Souto, and Jason Denison; his siblings, Vernon Souto, Wayne Souto, Wanda Souto, Leshia Souto, and Rosemarie Santiago; five grandchildren, Joel Vazquez, Jr., Mason Duarte-Souto, Aviel Trinidad, Myah Denison, and Jaleah Denison; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Brenda and Ronald Duarte; and nieces and nephews.
His visiting hours will be held on Friday October 2, 2020 from 5-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals. His funeral service and burial in Rural Cemetery will be private. Attendees must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Guests will be permitted to pay their respects and depart to allow the next guests to enter.
