Bernice (deSilva) Arena of New Bedford died March 2, 2006 at New England Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Carmino Arena.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Estrella) deSilva, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Arena was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church.
She was a devoted mother who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Arena was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
Survivors include 4 sons, Carmen Marc Arena, Eric Arena and Jonathan Arena, all of Acushnet and Dante Arena of Dartmouth; a daughter, Jennifer Arena of New Bedford; a brother, William deSilva of Maryland; 4 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday, March 7th at 8:30 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Monday, March 6th from 4-8 PM.
Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery.
