Obituary

New Bedford – Winifred M. (Sylvia) Manley, 88, of Dartmouth, died Friday, March 3, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital After a brief Illness. She was the widow of Frank A. Manley.

She was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Charles W. and Esther M. (Ryonson) Sylvia, and had resided in Fairhaven prior to moving to Dartmouth several years ago. A graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School, she volunteered at the Russells Mills Library in Dartmouth and at the Rogers School of Fairhaven. Mrs. Manley was a member of the Dartmouth Grange for over 25 years. She enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing and she knitted for the Shriners. She also loved cats.

She is survived by 4 sons: Donald F. Manley of New Bedford, Frank A. Manley of Dartmouth, Thomas W. Manley of W. Wareham and Charles H. Manley of Dartmouth; 3 daughters: Elizabeth M. Morgado of Mattapoisett, Marjorie A. Vikjord of Sagamore and June A. Correia of Fairhaven; a sister: Barbara Lawrence of Vero Beach, FL; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was sister of the late Robert Sylvia.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday, March 6, 2006 at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport at 10:00 A.M.

Calling hours Sunday 2 – 5 P.M.

Interment will be private.

A Memorial Service will also be held at a later date.
