Dorothy Lee Mabry passed away peacefully at home in Roslindale, MA on September 18.
Dorothy Lee Mabry was born to William and Erma Coles on June 11, 1941 in Suffolk, Virginia. She was the only child. She was educated in the Virginia School System.
Affectionately known as Dot or Dottie, Dorothy moved to Boston in the early 60’s because she wanted to find better employment opportunities for herself. Dottie soon found employment at New England Telephone Company as an operator. Although she was offered opportunities to advance in the company, she was happy to remain with the friends she had built a bond with. Dottie worked for over 25 years at “Ma Bell” until she had to take a medical retirement.
Dottie loved her son and his friends; her house was their house. Although she knew that she was not rich, Dot worked very hard to make sure her family did not want for anything. Dot liked to laugh, smile, and joke but when it came to education, she was very serious.
When she was not working, Dot enjoyed dancing or playing cards with friends or sitting at home listening to her wonderful music.
As she got a little older, Dot liked to go to the casino to play slot machines or just walk around and people watch. She also extended her love to her various pets over the years.
Dot leaves to mourn her loss her longtime companion Angus McCoullough “AC”,
her son Timothy Mabry (Katrina Mabry), 2 grandchildren: Taliyah Moody and Timothy Mabry, Jr. A great granddaughter, Lariah Moody, her longtime friend, James Davis, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and neighbors.
A memorial service will be held 10/3/2020 4:00 - 6:00 at William Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St. West Roxbury, Ma, 02132
