Ewan George Beenham, age 44, of Ventura, CA, passed away on September 22, 2020 after a battle with Cancer. Born May 17, 1976 in Edinburgh, Scotland to Janet Kerr Beenham (née Lang) and Donald Alan Thomas Beenham, Ewan attended George Herriot’s School in Edinburgh, graduating in 1994. He went on to earn an honors degree in Mechanical and Offshore Engineering from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1998.
Ewan was most proud of being an amazing father to his sons, Jackson and Lewis. He loved them with his whole heart and showed it every day. Their favorite memories of him were that he was fun, adventurous, full of funny dad jokes, and bad road trip karaoke. Ewan was surrounded by friends. The inflow of heartfelt messages received over the past few weeks has been breathtakingly beautiful. He was goofy, kind and smart. He lived big and laughed often, always ready for any adventure. He was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Ewan’s oil and gas career has included drilling and supervisory work in Canada, Scotland and the United States, with a career spanning almost 20 years. He worked with companies including Canadian Natural Resources Ltd., Senergy Ltd., Cenovus Energy, Devon Canada, California Resources Corporation and, most recently, the California Department of Conservation in Ventura, California. Ewan’s work family was incredibly supportive during his fight with Cancer, with special appreciation for his boss Pat Abel. In his spare time, Ewan was a committed and loving father to his two sons, volunteering for many school activities and sports teams, while sharing and encouraging them in his great passion for the outdoors.
Ewan is survived by his devoted life partner Ann James, two sons, Jackson and Lewis and their mother Andrea (Stanley), his father Donald and stepmother, Carollyne, in Chatham, Ontario, his brother Nicholas (Amy) in Swedesboro, NJ, and brother Mark (Colleen) in Greater Toronto, Ontario, nieces and nephews, Aunt Alison (Martin) in Malborough, England, and various cousins and family throughout Scotland and England, Alison and Morleymore Fisher in Scotland, Gavin, Sue and Claire Lang in England. He is predeceased by his Mother, Janet Kerr Lang, Uncles Robert and George Lang, Maternal Grandparents Janet (Abbott) and Stanley Lang, and Paternal Grandparents Mary (Donald) and Alan Beenham.
The family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to all the nurses doctors and medical staff at UCLA Ronald Reagan, UCLA Santa Monica, CMH Ventura, Dr.s Benjamin, and Ribas, He, and Abelson, with a special thanks to the Assisted Hospice Team, and especially nurse Amy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jackson and Lewis’s Charles Schwab educational fund at the following link: www.ugift529.com. Code J6M-C7J. All donations made to this account will be shared equally between the kids.
It was Ewan’s deepest wish that those around him forge deep connections to family and friends, and that they develop a love and appreciation of nature and the outdoors.
