Larry Wayne Spires, 54, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Memorial Health in Savannah, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Friday, September 25, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Chuck Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, from 9 AM until 11 AM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Spires was born November 5, 1965, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to Louise Oliver Spires Smith of Fitzgerald and the late Jackson Wayne Spires. He lived in the community all of his life and was a carpenter. Mr. Spires loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He played baseball, football and wrestled. Mr. Spires was a State Champion with his horse Charley. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Diane Spires of Ray City; children: Kaila Spires of Ocilla, Larry W. Harrell & Denise of Ray City and Hannah Spires of Hahira; a step-son, Dustin Harrell of High Falls and a special friend, Jacqueline Hutchinson; six grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dinah Spires Watson, step-father, Robert E. Smith and a niece, Karlee Roach.
