Vernon C. MacPhee, Jr. age 69, of Alton, NH formerly of Woburn, passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 13, 2020, surrounded by his loved ones after a long, hard battle with cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife and soul mate Judy Ropple-MacPhee, his daughter April Manals and her husband Juan of Malden, MA, son Vernon MacPhee III and wife Melissa of Derry NH, son Jonathan MacPhee and wife Melinda MacPhee of Woburn, MA and his daughter LeeAnn MacPhee of Woburn MA. He is also survived by twelve loving grandchildren. Brother of Beverly Hartford of Newton, MA and Susan LeBlanc and husband John of Derry, NH and is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
"Vern" as he was affectionately known to family and friends, grew up in North Woburn and was a member of the Woburn High School graduating class of 1971. Vern was the heart and soul of his family. A person of outstanding strength and character with a smile that would brighten anyone’s day and a sense of humor that was one of a kind. After graduating high school, Vern began a life long career at the Boston & Maine Railroad as Land & Clearance Engineer/Chief inspector. He loved playing Yahtzee with his wife, hosting holidays and cooking for family and painting for friends. Vernon had a love for all animals especially his new pup Maggie.
The love he had for all will forever live on.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Wednesday, September 23rd, from 4 to 8 p.m. All attending must wear a face mask and adhere to strict social distancing protocols.
