Francis M. McDonough of Peabody, formerly of Charlestown, died on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at the Pilgrim Rehabilitation Center in Peabody following a lengthy illness. He was 76 years old.
Francis was born in Charlestown on August 16, 1929, and grew up in Charlestown. He attended the Clarence R. Edwards Junior High School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1949. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1950, served during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1952. Francis then began working for American Automobile Association (AAA) in 1953 and retired as Manager of the Saugus office in 1993.
Francis is the beloved son of the late Grace (Gould) and John F. McDonough. He is the devoted brother of J. Lawrence McDonough of Boston and the late William M. McDonough. He is the brother-in-law of Mary McDonough of Woburn. Francis is the loving uncle of 8 neices and nephews and 1 great nephew.
Francis Funeral will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. from the Frank H. Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown, followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren Street, Charlestown, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting Hours for Francis will be held on Friday, March 3, 2006, from 4 - 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
