Born in Buffalo, NY on July 29, 1933, of the late Genevieve (Tyrrell) and Cyril Stockman who had three sons, Dick, James, and the late Donald. Dick was a proud graduate of Canisius High School and Canisius College Class of ‘55. He joined the ROTC in College and continued his military service after graduation. He was stationed at Fort Huachuca, Arizona in the Army Signal Corps.

After being honorably discharged from the Army as a First Lieutenant, he and Nancy moved back to Buffalo, NY where he was hired by Sylvania as a Financial Manager. After 10 years he was transferred to GTE (General Dynamics) in Needham MA. They lived in the Town of Norfolk where they raised their 4 children. Being an advocate and volunteer for youth sports he founded the Norfolk Vikings Pop Warner Football program for the town. On the 40th anniversary of the program, in recognition for his contributions, he was the first person to be inducted into the Viking Hall of Fame.

Dick and Nancy moved to Marco Island Florida, after retiring from GTE, where they both fell in love with the island and spent 31 wonderful years. All their children and grandchildren have many fond memories spending time with them at the beach, in their pool and boating around the island.

In January of 2019 they moved back to Massachusetts to be closer to family and resided at The Willows in Worcester, MA.
In addition to Nancy, Dick leaves behind his children- Cheryl, Kathy, Rich, and daughter-in-law Lisa. Affectionately known as “Pa” he will be greatly missed by his 8 grandchildren and 3.5 great grandchildren. He had many lifelong friends and extended family whom he loved dearly.
