Dartmouth – Olivia (Simmons) Cordeiro, age 91, of So. Dartmouth passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at her home. Born in New Bedford, MA she was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel J. Simmons, Jr., Florinda (Miranda) Quintal and her late step-father Louis “Palsy” Quintal.
Livvy had worked as an inspector for Morse Twist Drill & Machine Co. for many years. She loved to dance, sew, knit and play cards with her friends as well as visit the casino to play her favorite “Lucky Leprechaun” slots. Her family gatherings were a source of her greatest enjoyment, cooking large meals at the holidays and making sure there were always left overs for everyone to take home. For the past year and a half she loved attending Brandon Woods Adult Day Care of South Dartmouth.
Olivia “Livvy” is survived by her children, Susan Gonsalves, Steven M. Cordeiro and his wife Susan, Mark Cordeiro and his wife Deborah and Mary-Alice Sylvia and her husband Eric; her grandchildren, Michael Cordeiro, Anthony Cordeiro, Corey Pereira, Mathew Sylvia and Megan Sylvia; as well as 10 great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Lawrence Simmons, Manuel Simmons and Alice Medeiros.
A Mass for Olivia, with cremains, will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at St. Mary’s Church Dartmouth at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Riverside Cemetery in Fairhaven.
All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering and to practice social distancing of 6 feet. Attendance will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions.
