Obituary

Jerry Lamar Crumley, 77, of Omega went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at his residence. A family funeral service will be held for Mr. Crumley on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Johnathon Crumley will offer a eulogy. Mr. Crumley will lie in state on Sunday, September 13, 2020, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. We strongly encourage everyone to practice social distancing.

Wade Crumley, Donnie Crumley, Josh Thompson, Caleb Overman, Chris Overman and Tim Butler will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Turnmire and Julian Bennett.

Born September 1, 1943 in Tift County, Mr. Crumley was the son of the late Dewey Russell Crumley and Hazel Butler Crumley. He was also preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Patsy Oliver Crumley, who passed away in 2018; one brother and his wife, Gary and Tonya Crumley; and a sister-in-law, Betty Sue Crumley. He graduated from Omega High School and he was a member of Omega Church of God. He was a hard worker and, before retiring, he was a self-employed farmer and painter and enjoyed working with his brothers. He was a member of Suzy Q’s Roundtable in Omega and a member of the Georgia National Guard. He loved having fish-fries, family gatherings and was a friend to people in all walks of life. In he and his wife’s earlier years, they enjoyed taking motorcycle trips with his brother and sister-in-law across the United States. He also loved fishing at the Okefenokee Swamp and camping at Fernandina Beach, Florida. He loved the Lord and served the church in many ways, including choir director and Sunday School Superintendent. Above all, he was a faithful witness for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Mr. Crumley is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Vicky Crumley of Tifton and Johnathon and Laura Crumley of Tampa, Florida; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Farris Thompson of Waterloo and Bonnie and John Overman of Omega; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Jackie Crumley and Jimmy and Shirley Crumley, all of Omega; three grandchildren, USAF SSGT Russell Lanier and Courtney Crumley, Hannah Grace Crumley and her fiance Ethan Still, and Ava Elyse Crumley; and three great-grandchildren, Paisley Ann Crumley, Tyson “Ty” Russell Crumley and Levi William Crumley.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Crumley’s caregivers, Pam Wagner; Bill Turnmire; Hospice of Tift Area; and Georgia Living Senior Home Care for their loving care of Mr. Crumley.
