Norma Anne Vargas, 56, of Ventura, CA passed away on September 2, 2020 in Oxnard, CA. Norma was born on May 27, 1964 in Lubbock, TX to Rudy Vargas and Rickie Montez.
Norma is survived by her siblings, listed oldest to youngest: Sister Toni Mata of Lindsay, CA, sister Rosie Montes of Lubbock, TX, sister Susan Mata of Lubbock, TX, brother Felix Campos of Ventura, CA, sister Priscilla Carrasco and spouse Paul Carrasco of Gilroy, CA, sister Romie Ochoa and spouse Vince Ochoa of Oxnard, CA, brother Victor Vargas and spouse Mindy Vargas of Independence, MO, and brother Nick Vargas and spouse Nancy Vargas of Lubbock, TX.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents Rudy Vargas and Rickie Montez and nephew Eric Davila.
Norma had a special gift. She never married or had any of her own children, but she had 27 nieces and nephews and 60 grand nieces and nephews, as well as very special long-time friends who had children she cared deeply for. She memorized the nieces’ and nephews’ names and birthdays. Three of her nieces, Rali, Tori, and Ariel, lived with her for several years and Norma became a mother figure to them and loved them dearly. She was godmother to Anthony and Bobby Pina. Her special gift was not being an aunt to all of them or keeping all their birthdays in order, but being a friend who loved them completely and made them all feel special.
Those who knew Norma well knew firsthand that she could be stubborn! It was both a fault and a strength. She loved God. She was fiercely loyal. And a huge sports fan! Ready to go to a casino at the drop of a dime at any hour! A hard worker and a hard player. She loved to laugh. Norma has gone too soon. Until we meet again, sister, you have left a hole in our hearts. You will forever be loved and missed.
