Obituary



Ronald T. "Ron" Catineau, lifelong resident of Somerville, passed away on Saturday, September 5th. He was 74. Born and raised in Charlestown, he was the son of the late Edward and Yvonne (Merell) Catineau.

Ron enlisted into the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged in Chu Lai, Vietnam, in 1967. Ron loved to spend time with his family. He especially loved spending time with his five grandchildren. Ron enjoyed rooting his grandsons on at all of their sporting events, and he never missed one of Belle’s dancing recitals. Ron and Kathy loved to travel; they explored the Panama Canal, Mexico, the Caribbean and Aruba. He was a loving husband, a caring father and a great Papa. He will be greatly missed.

Ronald was the beloved husband of 53 years to Kathleen (Kraus) Catineau. He was the devoted father of Michelle Maffeo, and her husband David of Medford, and Ron Catineau, and his wife Audrey of Derry, NH. He was the loving Papa of Zack, Belle, Cole, Ryan and Tedy. Ron is also survived by many loving family members and friends.

Ronald's funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Saturday, September 12th at 8:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours with social distancing protocols Friday from 4 to 6 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
