Thurles W. "Coonie" Dukes, 88, of Ashburn passed away Monday, September 7, 2020.
Thurles, affectionately known as "Coonie" was born on October 6, 1931 in Ashburn to the late Jimmie Lee and Lemma Farmer Ward. She was a member of the Sycamore Baptist Church. She retired from the Ashburn Dr.'s Clinic. Thurles was a true southern lady who will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Deral Dukes of Ashburn; daughters, Deborah (Tom) Foster of Ashburn and Susan Dukes of Ashburn;sisters, Eudora Farmer of Covington, Diane DeLoach of Eatonton and Kaye Williford of Amboy; grandchildren, Keri (Hardy) Knowlton of Tampa, Florida, Tommy Foster of Columbus, Sarah Jackson of Ashburn and Matthew (Shauna) Jackson of Gulfport, Mississippi; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Quint Knowlton of Tampa, Florida, Amanda and Paisley Foster of Columbus, Natalie and Whitney Nutt of Cordele, Madison Cook of Sycamore, Peyton, Rylin and Ranger Jackson of Gulfport, Mississippi and Gage Carter of Alaska.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Aletha Tyler, Nettie Rose Hardy and Jimmie Lou Waller and her brother, Carl Ward.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Lakeview Cemetery in Sycamore. Social distancing rules will be strictly enforced and masks are suggested. For those who wish to pay their respects and sign the family guest book, Mrs. Dukes will lie in state from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
