Yvette R. (Monuteaux) Tougas, 90, of Dartmouth passed away peacefully on Saturday September 5, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Roger L. Tougas.
Born in Pawtucket, RI, the daughter of the late James and Rosamond (Thibault) Monuteaux, she lived in Dartmouth for many years.
She was an active communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church, where she volunteered in the office. In 2005, she was the recipient of the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River for her service to her parish.
Mrs. Tougas assisted her husband as a bookkeeper for his business, New Bedford Pest Control. She was also a strong supporter of her husband’s long political career.
She and her husband enjoyed boating and spending weekends on Cuttyhunk. She enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. Her favorite activity though was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also served as a volunteer for the St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah L. Vieira and Lynette T. Robitaille; her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Tougas; five grandchildren, Jay Vieira and his wife Amy, Nicole Boutwell and her husband Shaun, Courtney Tougas, Melissa Labbe and her husband Donald, and Matthew Robitaille and his wife Meghan; and nine great-grandchildren, Owen, Joshua, and Morgan Vieira, Max and Lilah Boutwell, Ellen and Noah Robitaille, and Benjamin and Nicholas Labbe.
She was the mother of the late Gregory A. Tougas, mother-in-law of the late Roger Robitaille, and sister of the late Lawrence and Edward Monuteaux.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Wednesday Sept. 9th at 11 AM at St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Visiting hours are omitted. Following the Mass, a private family burial service will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
