On Tuesday, August 25, 2020 Katherine E. Oski was declared dead, four days before her 33rd birthday. She was born on August 29, 1987 to Stephen Oski, who has passed, and Joan Oski. She was the devoted mother of two brilliant young boys, Carter and Lincoln of Springfield. She is survived by her nine siblings who will always miss her. In order from oldest to youngest, her sister Lynn Marchand of Ludlow, her sister Terri Ann Josefek of Ludlow, her brother Robert Oski of New Jersey, her brother Michael Oski of North Carolina, her sister Kristine Quiterio of Ludlow, her brother Shawn Oski of Springfield, her sister Jessica Germain of Ludlow, her sister Theodora Viridian of Ludlow and her sister Amanda Oski of Boston. In passing, she also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws, as well as friends and co-workers. The impression she left on so many cannot be overstated.
Her positive qualities were innumerable and obvious to anyone lucky enough to have been in her light.
Independence has always been Katie's signature characteristic. Uniquely capable and self-sufficient, she wasn't one to lean on others. This trait became the building block for her incomparable work ethic. Katie loved her job as a department manager of the boys’ department at Walmart and she took a lot of pride in what she did. People enjoyed working with her, for her hard work and her bright company.
Anyone who knew Katie would recall her wild humor. She was brought to raucous laughter by all things ludicrously silly. In even difficult situations, Katie would delight in finding what was ridiculous about the circumstance. Her laughter and love for the absurd will forever be cherished memories.
Katie was never one to succumb to boredom. She leapt from one fascination to the next with fervor and focus. Video games, fantasy, manicures, knitting, fun projects with her boys, she was always pouring her passion into something and she was always eager to share her hobbies with others, to offer to make something for them, to bring them in on her joy, even just a little bit. There was warmth in her creativity, generosity in her limitless talent.
The creations she was proudest of were her two boys. Carter and Lincoln. They were the sun at the center of her universe. Katie was in awe of their growth, in their curiosities as new members of this crazy world, in the mysterious ways their minds work. She looked forward to being there for them as they walked forward through life, giving them context, providing support, watching as they became capable, empathetic human beings.
This loss is overwhelming. We welcome anyone who would like to pay their respects to Katie and the family to attend her wake. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. As the pandemic continues, we would like to remind everyone to wear masks.
