Mario Volpe, age 73, passed away on August 25, 2020. He was born in Savignano, Italy, the son of Leonardo and Maria (Cirignano) Volpe (deceased). He is survived by 3 sons, Michael and his wife Kristina, Brian, and Scott, his life mate Brenda Casteel and her son James, his brothers Michael and his wife Natalina, and Anthony and his wife Joyce. He also had many grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 4 nieces, 1 nephew, numerous cousins and friends.
His family emigrated to Needham MA. when he was 9 years old. Mario attended schools in Italy until 3rd grade, followed by Needham Public Schools and graduated from Newton Technical High School in 1966 as a journeyman’s Electrician. He later received his Associates Degree in Business from the Franklin Institute of Boston.
Mario enlisted the US Army in 1968 and was on active duty for 3 years. He retired from the US Army Reserves as a Master Sergeant after 28 years of service as a radio repairman and communications instructor. He earned many medals and awards for excellence.
Mario was a self-employed electrician and a member of the Teamsters IBEW Local 653 in Brockton.
All who knew him loved and respected him for his humility, humor, guidance and generosity of spirit.
He will be interred at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Thursday, September 24th at 10:30 AM. Flowers are discouraged.
