John Daniel “J.D.” Mullins, age 96, of Red Oak, Virginia passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020. He was born October 12, 1923 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia and was the son of the late John W. Mullins and the late Jessie Garner Mullins.
J.D. was a World War II United States Navy Veteran and served as a Radio Operator. He was a devoted lifetime member of Bethel Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for 43 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Chase City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Mullins and two sisters, Mary Highfield and Viola Dornick.
J.D. Is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Currin “Dot” Mullins; special niece, Vanessa Currin Duffer (Eddie); nephews, Page Highfield, Jerry Highfield, and Gordon Dornick; and nieces, Patricia Purcell, Betty Jean Joyner, and Donna Dornick.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2020 at the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Revered Steve Parker and Reverend Rodney Spears II officiating and Military Honors by American Legion Post 43. The family will receive family and friends at J.D. and Dot's Home.
