Obituary

Gracia R. (Mercier) Vaillancourt, 89, of Manchester died July 14, 2002 at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester after a brief illness.

Born in Manchester on September 22, 1912, she was the daughter of Leonidas and Rosalie (Talbot) Mercier. She lived in Canada for many years before returning to Manchester in 1962.

She worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Manchester for many years.

Mrs. Vaillancourt was a member of the Sodality of St. Anne, the Daughters of Isabella, the Columbiettes, the Association Canado-Americaine and Les Coeurs Joyeux.

The family includes her husband of 69 years, Philippe E. Vaillancourt of Manchester; four daughters, Helene Boutin of Beecher Falls, VT, Rose-Huguette Vaillancourt of Three Rivers, Quebec, Canada, Jeannette Scarlett of Raymond and Marjolaine Bergeron of Dunbarton; six sons, Georges Vaillancourt of Hooksett, Berchmans Vaillancourt and Normand Vaillancourt both of Manchester, Jack Vaillancourt of Goffstown, and Sylvain Vaillancourt and Gervais Vaillancourt both of Manchester; 27 grandchildren; 59 great grandchildren; four sisters, Lucienne Mercier of St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, Marie Mercier of Sherbrooke, Quebec, and Jeannette Mercier and Marguerite Mercier both of Magog, Quebec; one brother, Bruno Mercier of Haiti; many nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday July 17, 2002 in Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Elm St., Manchester. Burial was in St. Augustin Cemetery, So. Beech St., Manchester.
