Elaine Mathews Smith, 77, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, August 28, 2020, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Pastor Jack Fields officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith was born November 29, 1942, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Sam& Irene Melton Mathews. She lived in the community all of her life and was a homemaker. Mrs. Smith loved to cook and enjoyed helping raise her grandchildren. She was a member of Callie Garbutt Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Tony & Allison Smith of Fitzgerald and Paul & Lisa Smith of Ocilla; grandchildren: Amber Smith & Matt Skinner, Kaylan Lumsden & Matt, Bryant Smith, Mason Smith and Landon Smith; and siblings: Myrtleen Walker of Fitzgerald, Bela Mae Alligood & John of Fitzgerald, Marie Grant & Joe of Fitzgerald, W.T. Mathews & Carolyn of Moultrie and Rufus Mathews & Denise of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Marshall Smith.
