Oakley K. Friend passed away August 23, 2020 at Community Hospital.
Oakley was born June 17, 1934, in Frankton, to Arthur and Wilma (Blockson) Friend.
Oakley worked at Delco Remy over 35 years as a tool engineer before retiring in 1988. He graduated from Frankton High School and attended General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan. He also worked over 15 years as a consultant and contract engineer, for Dupouy and Associates, Steel Parts, Corporation and Remy International.
Oakley was active for many years as a Boy Scout Leader with Troop 209 in Anderson. He was an avid fisherman.
Oakley is survived by his wife, Sharon (Seifert) Friend and his children, Sharon Smith of Tennessee; Debbie (Tim) Alford of Anderson; Steve Friend of Greenfield and two stepsons; grandchildren, Jennifer (Nick) Richards, Ashley Alford, Michael Alford; great-grandchildren Preston Richards, Timothy Dietrick, Katheryn Dietrick, Connor Alford, Hunter Alford; sisters, Wanda Higgenbothom, Alma (Don) Wallon, Peggy (Torrence) Davis, two sisters-in-law; brother, Bill (Kathy) Friend, two brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step father, Kenneth Hurst; his first wife, Deloras "Dolly" Friend and his brother, Tom Friend.
Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
