New Bedford – Joan M. Correia, age 84, of New Bedford passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Albert O. Correia.
Born in New Bedford, MA she was the beloved daughter of the late Edward Ramshead and Gwendolyn (Evans) Ramshead. She had worked in the meat department for Stop & Shop for many years and had also been the Proprietor of Joni's Flowers.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Roderiques and her companion Carlos M. Melo and her son, Bryan A. Correia; her grandchildren, David Roderiques and his wife Katie, Austyn Correia and Bryan Hunter and great-granddaughter, Olivia Roderiques. She was also the sister of the late Steven Ramshead.
Joan’s visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening, August 25, 2020 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering and to practice social distancing of 6 feet. Attendance may be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions.
