LACONIA-----Joan ‘Joanie’ Marguerite Kane, 69, of Belknap Street, died on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at Concord Hospital.
Joanie was born and raised in Boston, MA, on June 5, 1951, to the late Robert and Patricia (Lynch) Kane. She was the oldest of seven children, Bobby Kane, Patty Wasilunas, Brad Kane, Buddy Kane, Debby Mitchell, and Carolyn Pakseresht.
Joanie was a graduate of George Town University in 1975, of Ursaline Academy in Dedham, MA, and worked for Polaroid in Massachusetts. She moved to New Hampshire in early 2000, and she worked for a time share company for the Currens Management Corporation before enjoying retirement.
Joanie loved taking care of dogs. She was an avid reader and her favorite hobbies were animals and going out with friends on Lake Winnisquam, long car rides with Mike and her dog, going to the Brick Front Restaurant with friends, skiing in the wintertime, and picking up the Laconia Sun for her friend Nell.
Joanie leaves behind her three brothers; three sisters; thirteen nieces and nephews; twenty-six cousins; her partner, Michael Zuckerman and his daughter Michelle; her beloved Pomeranian, Brady; all her dear and close friends, most of all, Joanne and Phil and their dogs she would watch, Stewy and Rosey.
Adhering to the guidelines of the State of New Hampshire and the CDC, social distancing is strongly encouraged and face coverings will be required.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Andre Bessette Parish - Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia.
Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia.
For those who wish, the family suggests that memorial donations be made in Joan’s name to the New Hampshire Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247.
