Salvatore B. "Chub" Simeone, a longtime resident of Weston and Stuart, Florida and formerly of Needham, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at his home in Weston surrounded by his 4 dedicated daughters and their families. He was 97 years of age.
Chub was born in Revere on August 26, 1922, a son of the late Benjamin A. "B A" Simeone and Frances (DeMarco) Simeone. He grew up in West Medford where he was educated in the Medford School system and graduated from Medford High School. He furthered his education and graduated from Norwich University in Vermont with a Bachelors Degree where he was the captain of their football, hockey, and baseball teams. He then went on to receive his Masters Degree from Babson College. Chub enlisted into the United States Army on September 14, 1942 and served his country with honor and courage during World War II . He received the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Army Occupation Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. While serving his country during World War II in Germany, Chub was selected to play on the United States Army European Theater championship hockey team and was named Captain of the team in 1946. Chub was honorably discharged from the United States Army on August 7, 1946 with the rank of Captain. Upon returning from WWII, he became Norwich University's first coach/captain/player, where he even donated his salary in 1946-47 to buy jerseys for the team. Chub is a member of the Norwich University Hockey Hall of Fame, he is the Past President of Construction Industries of Massachusetts (CIM), and a former member of the board of trustees and faithful supporter of Regis College.
Chub is the beloved husband of 54 years to the late Mary E. (Carr) Simeone. He is the devoted Dad to Frances Simeone, Ann Pace and her husband Alfred, Lisa Ewanouski and her husband Robert and Michele Abrecht and her husband Cliff. He is the loving "Dad" to Zach, Mary Elizabeth, Francesca, Lichele and her husband Chip, Ford and his wife Liz, Bianca, Tripp, Lexi, Noah, Isabella, Declan, Charlie, Severino, Charlotte, Sonny, Stella Rose, Quinton, Michele, Rocco and Gus. He is the beloved brother of the late Dolly Luongo and Benjamin A. Simeone Jr. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Chub's Funeral Services and burial at Holyhood Cemetery in Brookline will be private.
