GRANBY – Joseph Peter Danish, 82, of Granby, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, August 13, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 14, 1937, a beloved son of the late Peter Joseph Danish and Florence (Anna (Johnson) Danish. He was raised in Philadelphia and graduated from local schools. He later enlisted in the United Sates Army in 1961 and proudly served his country and attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. Following his military service, he came to Chicopee where he lived for many years before moving to Granby in October of 2010 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was employed as a machinist/mechanic for the former Ampad Corporation in Holyoke and later relocated with the company to Utah. He returned to Chicopee and then worked for the Reynolds Manufacturing Corporation and then the Service Machine Company, both in Holyoke. During his leisure time, Joe enjoyed many outdoor activities, playing music and tending his beautiful garden with his wife, Okkum. On June 7, 1985, he married the love of his life, Okkum (An) Danish and together they were blessed with over 35 years of happiness together. He leaves his three loving children, Peter J. Danish and his wife, Susanna, of Jacksonville, FL, Judith A. Danish of Chicopee, and Michelle and her husband, Dean; his six cherished grandchildren, Matthew Danish, Bryan Danish, Marissa Cabrera and her husband, Andrew, Joseph Danish, Dylan and Declan; his four cherished great-grandchildren, Hailie Danish, Cloe Danish, Lucian Cabrera and Tormund Cabrera; his dear sister, Alice Lentine of Pennsylvania; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. His Committal Service will be held at a later date at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
