Edmund “Guy” Beauvais passed away peacefully on August 15, 2020 at the age of 76. Born and raised in Chicopee, he also lived in Longmeadow, Townsend and Agawam before recently re-settling in Chicopee. While starting his working career as a draftsman at Hamilton Standard he later went on to work for Uniroyal Tire Co, Wang Laboratories, Sun Microsystems and Hamden Zimmerman. In his personal time, he was very handy and amassed quite a collection of tools over the years. He could always be found working on projects for friends and family, and while they may not have been completed very quickly, they were always done right. He also developed a keen interest in baking and attended classes at King Arthur Flour Company in Vermont. His apple and blueberry pies were always a welcome addition at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Guy never found a beer that he didn’t like (except for wheat beer), and could tell you where the best restaurants were within a 10 mile radius, no matter where you were. He was a longtime member of the Tigers Athletic Club, and also enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He was married for 39 years and was predeceased by his wife Jeannine (Riches) in December 2012. He is survived by his son Brandon Beauvais and his wife Gina and grandchildren, Chace and Sofia of Wellesley, MA., a brother Bruce Beauvais and his wife Liz of Ryegate, VT., a sister-in-law Sandee Beauvais of York, ME., as well as a nephew and several nieces. He was also predeceased by his parents Edmund and Wanda Beauvais (Polkowski), and brother Mark Beauvais. Calling hours will be held at Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee, MA on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Baystate Hospice, c/o Baystate Health Foundation 280 Chestnut St, Springfield, MA 01199.
