Beloved mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Lola Allen passed away peacefully on August 8, 2020 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Lola was born in Stone Mountain, Georgia on September 20, 1949, and graduated from Blackwell High School in Elberton, Georgia. She moved to New York City continuing her education where she attended Queensborough Community College in Queens, where she received an Associate in Arts degree in 1976. Lola received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communication in 1992, and a Master’s in Business Administration (Hunter College) 1993. In 1998, Lola retired from CUNY College in New York as a Registrars Assistant.
Lola was the youngest of 12 children born to the late Willard Allen, Sr. and Annie Mae (Paden) Allen. Lola is survived by her children, Alan L., Quincy A., and Christopher L. Young; grandchildren, Tiana R. Young, Quincy A. Young, Jr., Autumn Alana Young, and Ashley Clark; great-grandchildren, Neveah and Noah Santiago; a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends who were blessed to know her. Lola was predeceased by her son, Roman Young; her sisters, Ada and Charlie Mae; and brothers, Willard Jr., Freddie, George, Bobby, Billy, Charles, and Luke Allen.
Lola was a devoted mother and provider who persevered through dedication and hard work. She showed her children and grandchildren the value of kindness, respect, responsibility, and accountability for their actions. She always gave good advice, had a great sense of humor, and loved telling jokes to see a smile on your face, loved her gospel music, R&B, and traveling. Lola was big on life and full of surprises. She touched the lives of many people and will truly be missed.
