Jack Stanley Johnson, 60, of Tifton and, currently, New York City passed away Thursday, August 13, 2020, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Johnson at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2020, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Landon Alberson will officiate.
Joe Drawdy, Bo Carver, Brad Arrington, Dale Hall, Roger Henry, Mike Webb, Bobby Payne, Tate Johnson and John Walker will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Stan’s racing buddies and the guys from the band.
Born November 19, 1959 in Tifton, Stan was the son of the late Carl Shepard Johnson and Myra E dna Grubbs Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Johnson. He graduated from Tift County High School and attended Moultrie Technical College. He retired as the assistant superintendent at Chickasha of Georgia. He was an avid racing fan and a lover of music. He also enjoyed baseball, fishing and golf. He was a proud and supportive “Poppy” to his grandchildren.
Stan is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Kris Stone of Tifton and Misty and Ryan Gibson of New York City; one brother and sister-in-law, Tim and June Johnson of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Stanley Arrington of Tifton; four grandchildren, Gavin Starling, Carter Stone, Kaden Stone and Ty Gibson; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Johnny Stephens and the entire staff at the Anita Stewart Oncology Center and the entire staff of Hospice of Tift Area.
