WORCESTER-Kathryn L. (Skerkis) Maffei, 99, formerly of Country Club Blvd died Monday, Feb. 27 at the Lifecare Center of Auburn.
Her husband, Paul F. Maffei died in 1976. She leaves a son, Paul R. and his wife Nancy L. Maffei of N. Oxford and Melbourne Beach, FL; eight grandchildren, Paul Baldino and his wife Dawn of N. Brookfield, Michael Baldino and his wife Amy of Worcester, Kathy Baldino of Dudley, Lisa Tischione of Worcester, Paul J. Maffei of N. Oxford, Richard Maffei and his wife Deborah of New jersey, David Maffei and his wife Deborah of Acton and Matthew Maffei and his fiancé Keli Philips of Auburn.; 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. A daughter, Ann C. Gamarche predeceased her.
She was born in Pena, IL the daughter of Michael and Mary (Derski) Skerkis. Mrs. Maffei is a member of the Old Ironside Post 423 American Legion Auxiliary and was National President of the Italian American World War Veterans of the United States of America in 1954.
The funeral will be Wednesday, March 1 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. followed by burial in St. John’s Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held from 9:00 until 10:00 AM on the morning of the funeral. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church 24 Mulberry St., Worcester, MA 01605.
