James T. “Jim” Christian, 60, of Buena Vista, Georgia, died Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, August 14, 2020, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Jimbo Dominey and the Rev. Bobby Richey officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Cemetery in Ben Hill County, Georgia. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 PM until 9 PM at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Christian was born July 15, 1960, to the late Kirby & Tid Coker Christian. He graduated from Turner County High School in 1978 and attended Valdosta State University. He worked for Ole Times Country Buffet for six years as a supervisor in Columbus, Macon and Tifton. He also worked for Lowe’s in Macon and Tifton and Norbord in Cordele. Mr. Christian was a jack of all trades and was always willing to help anyone who needed anything. He was a loving husband and dearly loved his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Sycamore.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Deborah Lynn Christian of Buena Vista; children: Jennifer Purcell & Stephen of Amboy, Stephanie Paulk & Eric of Wray and Bobbie Tomberlin of Tift County; grandchildren: Carmen Brewer, Alexus Cline, Jacob Purcell, Garrett Purcell, Todd Benson, Precious Benson, Audrey Paulk and Noah Paulk; a great-grandchild, Aaron Horne and three brothers: Bob & Kathi Christian of Buford, John Y. & Staci Christian of Ashburn and Bill Christian of Cleveland as well as three nieces and three nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his beloved dogs.
